This weekend has been filled with windy, raining conditions here at Oak Island but that has not stopped us from putting some fish in the boat.  Most of the rain only last 10-15 min at a time so its really no big deal.  We find protection from the wind then continue to catch Red Drum and Blackdrum.  Looks like the pattern for the next several days but the fish are already wet and they are hungry.  Bring a rain coat or wear your swim suit

Oak Island Fishing Charters has been busy with the backwater and nearshore fishing trips .   Still on the nearshore scene the Blacktip sharks have been biting good the past 2 days and to have 2 on at a time was very common.  In the backwater the Red Drum bite is still on fire.  Pictures from myself and Capt Johns Shark fishing trips will be posted once the charters sends them over.

Finally made it out to the ocean today off Oak Island today looking for some Blacktip Sharks.  This morning trip was a little slow but we did manage to miss a few and get a good one.  On the afternoon trips the sharks were swimming around the boat and catching them was no problem.  At times we would have 2 on at a time and in my opinion it does not get any better.  All sharks were released and never showed any sign of harm.

Well we are still dealing with tough conditons from mother nature but fish are still coming in the boat.  Once again Capt John report big Blacktip Sharks this morning until the rain sent them running to the house.  In the Backwater the Red Drum and Speckled trout wanted to play tug-a-war until the rain set in.  All in all great fishing just had to put up with a little rain.  Sure wish this wind would stop blowing.

The last several days we have been really busy chasing down the fish.  With the NE winds blowing the air temp felt like OCT and the ocean finally got nice enough to fish off Oak Island.  Capt John reported steady action on the Blacktip Sharks and bait all up and down the beach.  Ive been in the backwater targeting Red Drum and Flounder with good results as well.  The pictures look like they were taking in the winter but they were this week.

 

Well the wind is still blowing here at Oak Island but the fishing is still productive.  On the nearshore trips we are going to Carolina Beach to hide from the wind and the fishing is not great but its better than sitting at the house.  Now the backwater fishing is still producing big Red Drum and Flounder so you do have choices when its wind.  BTW if you go out of CB inlet around low tide watch out I saw 2.6ft and breaking water across.

 

I almost forgot which pictures go where from this weekend.  Lost of fishing and catching is what was going on with Oak Island Fishing Charters.  Capt John ended up going offshore again with Oak Islands “Nauti Girl Charters” and they caught everything that swims out there.  Some of the fish are 35lb king mackerel big scamps, big gags, hub cap size triggerfish and all the jacks and bass they wanted.  I had backwater trips with the sons and daughters for fathers day.  The Red Drum, Flounder and Trout will be on the menu for a couple of families this week.  Sure hope the Spanish Mackerel show up.

On our morning trip our problem was we could not get away from the Red Drum (darn).  Anyway I wish it was always like this but we are having fun in the backwater while waiting on the ocean to clear up nearshore and the Spanish to make another showing.

We have been busy at Oak Island Fishing Charters trying to fiqure out whats going on after the storm last week so here it is.  The Spanish Mackerel are all but gone (the will be back) and Capt John has been doing well on the blacktip sharks.  Once again the last couple days we have been beating the socks off the Red Drum, Flounder and Trout in the backwater.

Once again the wind is showing us no mercy so we are still doing the backwater fishing.  This bite is still steady and the fish are getting bigger and the smiles are getting bigger also.  Today this little fisherman showed us how it was done and caught this big Red Drum all by himself.
