Oak Island Fishing Charters Backwater Fishing Report
The last several days the backwater fishing for Red Drum has been awesome. Most of the trips had catches well into the double digits with most fish in the 18-27 slot size. Red Drum are the best fighting fish on light tackle in the Oak Island, Bald Head Island area so if you get a chance you should give it a try.
Oak Island Fishing Charters Weekend Fishing Report
This weekend could not have went much better. First the east wind on Sat made the ocean close in very nice and Capt John reported great shark action. I stayed in the backwater and wore the Drum out. On Sunday the ocean was perfect for grouper catching and it was a bad day to be a grouper. Capt John reported lots of small Spanish and steady shark action with the kids.
Oak Island Fishing Charters Backwater Fishing
Today at Oak Island NC the wind showed us no mercy with a steady 20-25mph but with our backwater fishing we can find shelter from the wind and have a good chance of putting fish in the boat. Once in the right spot we started catching Red Drum and Black Drum about every cast. After there was plenty for dinner we started releasing the fish. Sure hope this pattern holds.
Oak Island Fishing Charters Wreck Fishing
Left the dock a little late at Oak Island NC after the wind settled down to go do some live bait wreck fishing. Finally the weather man was right once we go out the wind stopped and the fish tried to jump in the boat. Amberjacks a cobia is whats on the menu for the group for a while now. Looks like backwater fishing the rest of the week as the wind blow and hope to get the grouper again this weekend.
Oak Island Fishing Charters Grouper Catching
The last couple of days the charters have got to experience the difference between bottom fishing and Grouper catching. We go out of the way to make sure you have the best chance to produce the targeted species. If you would like to learn how to catch grouper then this charter is for you even if you have your own boat.
Oak Island Fishing Charters Memorial Weekend Update
Sorry for the delay but computer crashed and fishing everyday. Here it is, the fishing could not have been any better the last 5 or 6 days we have lived up to our reputation of targeting specific fish that you pay to fish for. Grouper fishing is our specialty when we bottom fish so that’s what you should catch the most of and the tract record is great. Lots of Big Grouper, Big Mahi with Blackbass and Amberjacks mixed in was the routine for the offshore trips. Nearshore the Spanish are around but the sharks are hungry and should hold steady for the summer pattern. In the Backwater the flounder are moving in but the Red Drum are showing there numbers better. Bottom line fishing has been great from the Backwater to Bluewater with Oak Island Fishing Charters.

Oak Island Fishing Charters Fishing Report
Today at Oak Island the weather threw a curve ball to area. All the cobia just vanished and the King Mackerel must have went with them today also. The big Sharks are around as Capt John had great luck on both trips with them today using live bait. On my afternoon trip we pushed off and made a very productive 3/4 trip about 25 miles catching all the Amberjacks the arms could take. Gulfstream or Grouper in the morning.
