With all the wind and rain on Thursday our hopes of catching fish was brought down a notch on Friday. With windy conditions and dirty water it made the fishing tough but we kept hitting spots around Bald Head Island NC until it happened. Looks like we will be in the ocean for a few days to look for more kings and cobia.

Oak Island Fishing Charters Cobia Catching
The big Cobia are still around the Southport, Oak Island NC area. Live bait has been working best but a bucktail has got its share also. The last week has been like a broken record but the fish are hungry and the weather is perfect. Gulfstream, Grouper or Cobia tomorrow either way its a full day.
Oak Island Fishing Charters Offshore Full Day
Today could not have went any better while fishing offshore Oak Island NC. Bait was easy at first light and within 1 hour we had the boats full limit of 6 cobia in the boat with the biggest weighing in at 46lbs. After that fire drill we went on the catch Big “keeper” Scamp Groupers that we targets specifically along with jumbo Sea Bass. Looks like sharking in the am and cobia for the afternoon.
Oak Island Fishing Charters Weekend Update
What a weekend this has been. Starting Friday with hot Mahi and Cobia action offshore to nearshore shark and King Mackerel fishing because of the weather Sat offshore combined with Big Cobia’s in the boat Sunday. It does not get any better than it is right now. Lets go fishing.
Oak Island Fishing Charters Grouper Catching
Quality Control
The big Scamp Grouper wanted a ride back to Oak Island NC today and we were more than happy to give them a lift. We love targeting a catching Grouper because it way more challenging than just “bottom fishing” but that’s just what Capt John and myself enjoy doing. Today had all the conditions that could have produced a bad day but the Grouper did not take advantage of the dirty green water but having the right bait on the right rock is all it takes. Results was boats full limit of Grouper plus 2 30lb African Pompano’s along with the usual blackbass, grunts ect….
Oak Island Fishing Charters Grouper Catching
Over the weekend we was rewarded with calm seas and hungry fish. The Grouper are down there that’s for sure just got to put them in the boat. Catching Grouper is not luck but I hope tomorrow we are “lucky enough” to repeat the weekends catch.
Oak Island Fishing Charters Nearshore 1/2 day Catching Trip
What a beautiful morning at Oak Island NC today with light winds and calm seas. This morning trip was no different than the last 3 days with great catches of Spanish Mackerel and Atlantic Bonita. As the water warms up the Bonita will vanish but we will replace them with big Sharks. The season is here and we are happy to show you what its all about.
Oak Island Fishing Nearshore Charters On Fire
The last several days while not offshore we have been catching lots of Spanish Mackerel and Atlantic Bonita’s. To say the nearshore has fired off is an understatement because not only are the Spanish here but the big sharks and King Mackerel are around also. Looks like another day of Nearshore then its off the CATCH the Grouper again.
Oak Island Fishing Charters Full Day Catching
Finally after 3 days I made it out to go fill the box with grouper. As the pictures come in I will post but for now the report will be simple. The boat was full of Grouper (keepers) , Mahi, Wahoo and of course Blackbass. Make no mistake about it we target and catch Grouper on the full day trips while all the other fish are just a bonus.
Oak Island Fishing Charters Nearshore
Oak Island Fishing Charters got to sneak in another trip Tue before the wind picked up and the fishing was great again. This time the Atlantic Bonito’s decided they wanted to play. These fish are really good to eat but are only here for a little while.. Not sure if Ive said this yet but I am ready to catch some grouper.
